CMN has a long and fruitful experience in the design and production of naval vessels, yachts and research vessels.

CMN design Office is teaming up naval architects and designers with marine engineers, design office specialist teams and weapon systems department, to develop the platform that will integrate the structural design, propulsion systems, electrical systems, piping and HVAC systems, weapon, navigation, communication and audio/video systems, with the coordination constraints to achieve an optimum balance between performance, operability, comfort and maintainability.

The design Office has already successfully set Transfer of Technology methodologies to allow the construction of CMN designs in different shipyard partners.

Naval Architecture and Design

The Naval architecture, Marine engineering and Design of our vessels is developed on the basis of customer requirements according to International, Classification and Statutory rules and regulation, and the ocean environment and includes:

The CMN Naval Architecture Department offers you to carry out your hydrostatic weighing, your stability tests, and your stability calculations to establish the reports and files necessary for approval by the Flag Authorities and Classification Societies. We can carry out your calculations for all types of vessels (passengers, cargo, fishing, dredgers, military) on the basis of the applicable regulation of your choice, in intact condition and after damage, and provide you with our advice in relation to your needs. based on our many experiences on different types of vessels. We have our own test weights of 0.5 and 2 tonnes that we can combine to adapt to the desired tilting moment. Tests can be performed at your test site or at our weapons dock. The calculations are carried out on the MAAT HYDRO ++ software

Structural Design

The Vessel Structural Design is being considered from the preliminary architecture project up to the detailed structural design and includes: local and global strength assessment leading to structural basic drawings, vibration optimization and shock resistance analysis when required, global ship 3D CAD structural model and detailed drawings with Classification Society appraisal, workshop drawings, ship welding concept, outfitting integration and seating definition. Detailed calculations (3D beam models, Finite Element Analysis) are carried out for global strength validation and main equipment integrations (Combat Systems, handling devices like cranes or davits, main doors and ramps).

Accommodation Arrangement and Design

Separator

The accommodation arrangement is optimised according to the designer’s vision and operational requirements integrating the technical and regulations constraints. Each room is designed in detail including the optimum arrangement of furniture, the shape and size of furniture up to the selection of the appropriate materials, texture and colour, lighting type and location, and production drawings. Realistic 3D renderings are used for Master Decoration Scheme finalisation.

Fire, thermal and acoustic insulation are defined according to International, Classification and Statutory rules and regulation, thermal balance and customer requirements. Doors and hatches are carefully selected to also comply with these requirements. Special attention is dedicated to Safety and Security through Life saving equipment selection and arrangement, Damage Control organisation, and Escape routes identification.

Platform Auxiliary Systems Integration

Separator

Large projects such as naval vessels or fishing boats involve auxiliary systems purchased from numerous suppliers and subcontractors. The integration of these different systems onboard the vessels is complex and requires rigorous analysis, experience and team work to cover all interfaces (structural supports, piping, electricity etc). CMN Design Office is in charge of the integration activity through the whole project, including client expectations analyses, purchase order technical specification, equipment fabrication follow up, detail design and assistance to fabrications interface, equipment installation and setting to work.

Electricity

A global Electrical design is defined from preliminary studies up to ship delivery including power distribution architecture, different power load balances and associated production means together with all necessary systems cable networks and wiring diagrams.

The Electrical design Departement is also in charge of engineering studies, coordination and arrangement for the wheelhouse, Combat Information Centres and Combat system technical rooms, including the design and integration of the design of specific cabinets and consoles.

Systems Integration

Navigation, Communication, entertainment, oceanographic and Combat systems all have specific requirements and constraints : The Systems department is dedicated to ensure that all these requirements are satisfied from preliminary project design up to trials and customer support.

 

EMI/EMC, RCS

Modern military ships are nowadays heavily equipped with antennas and radars dedicated to communication and combat systems. As a result, the arrangement and positioning of antennas and radars are difficult from an Electromagnetic (EM) waves propagation point of view. Can appear problems of shadow zones, mismatch of antennas with their generator, strong values of radar signature and so on. All these are in fact Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) problems. It is also important to ensure that onboard electronic equipment does not cause excessive radiation hazards to personnel, fuel or ordnance.

CMN possesses ShipEDF, a software conceived for the EM design of naval vessels. It is a comprehensive system that supports EM modelling and simulation, and thus helping the optimization of naval platforms

Metal cutting

CMN has indeed one of the largest plasma flow capacities in the region: Numerically controlled plasma cutting (15×5 meter tank max, aluminum 1.5 to 30 mm and steel 0.8 to 50 mm) – Messer 2 flame cutting heads 3.5×1.5 m max thickness: 200 mm – Shears (2.9 meters) – Thermal saw (10 mm steel, 50 mm aluminum) – Multiple chainsaws (max diam. 410 mm)

Boilerwork

CMN produces all types of mechanically welded assemblies, in steel or aluminum, including for complex shapes:

All the heavy boilermaking trades (Cutting, Forming, Straightening, Assembly, Welding…) are carried out according to the best world quality standards (More than 300 QMOS, COFREND 2, EN ISO 5817…).

Forming

Press brake (6 meters and 280 tonnes) – Numerically controlled press brake 3 meters, 60 tonnes – Rolling machine 6 meters.

Welding

Qualified welder BV marine (NR476) and according to the international standard (NF EN ISO 9606-1)

Piping

Separator

Production of stainless steel, Cupro-nickel, Aluminum, Steel and Copper circuits up to ø219 mm by bending, crimping and welding curve technique. Our TIG welders are BV marine qualified. Bending capacity D 60 x 5 in steel on semi-automatic bender. We also perform the rinsing of hydraulic circuits via a pollution control unit.

Locksmith

Realization of mechanically welded units in low thickness, manufacture of ventilation ducts, stairs, handrails and furniture. We are equipped with a CN L3000 / 100T press brake, CN notcher and L2500 shear.

Carpentry

Separator

Manufacture of light furniture in aluminum honeycomb, chipboard furniture and installation of veneers. Installation of technical partitions and ceilings and all types of fittings as well as flooring and parquet.

Mechanical

Separator

Tous travaux de mécanique navale y compris lignage moteurs et ensemble ligne d’arbre, appareil à gouverner.

Painting

Application of paint in the cabin on small and medium parts, application of all anti-fooling systems and complete painting of the ship.

Electricity
